RoboIT

RoboIT is the first National Technology Transfer Hub launched by CDP Venture Capital in collaboration with Pariter Partners and created together with the Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa with the involvement of the University of Naples Federico II, the University of Verona and the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa, ones of the major research centers in Italy specialized in the robotics sector.

The goal is to promote the birth of a new generation of companies, the deep-tech startups that arise from research centers and universities and to support researchers in the creation of future national and international champions of innovation.

RoboIT Centri Italia

RoboIT focuses on the enhancement of research results in the fields of robotics and industrial automation, involving the most important Italian Research Centers specialized on the subject, through a new investment model that supports the entire supply chain of the transfer of an innovative technology to the market with:

  • the development of the PoC, through a process of de-risking and technology transfer for the technical and business feasibility study and the definition of a technological development plan;

  • the creation of the company, stimulating the project through a path of entrepreneurial strengthening and market validation up to industrialization;

  • national and international marketing thanks to the further contribution of sectoral venture capital funds able to follow the growth of the best startups on the global market.

The support activities for the creation of new companies starting from the technologies developed by Research will be provided by Pariter Partners together with other specialized partners at IIT, the Hub of the National Pole. The activities relating to the development of POCs will instead be implemented in the individual participating universities.

Why partecipate?

If you have already an established project or a startup that develops solutions or services related to robotics or mechatronics, you will have the opportunity to access a unique network of research support, entrepreneurship partners, venture capital funds and international partners to ensure the sustainability and growth of your idea.

Who we are looking for

Research Teams

Research teams active in RoboIT partner universities, eager to bring their inventions to an entrepreneurial level. These teams must belong to one of RoboIT’s partner Universities / Research Centers.

Established Companies

University spin-offs or startups born within or thanks to collaborations with the world of research. All startups can apply to RoboIT even if they do not belong to any partner university, as long as they are linked to the Italian national research system.

INVESTMENT FOCUS

RoboIT invests in teams and startups active in the field of robotics, automation, mechatronics and which are developing applications such as:

the program

RoboIT’s goal is to provide economic resources and value-added services to increase the level of “investability” of research projects and emerging technologies developed in the field of robotics in Italy. RoboIT’s investment program is structured in two phases:

  1. Tech Incubation → pre-seed investment program and technological support designed for the development of PoC, specific for research teams (pre-company phase) hosted or operating in one of RoboIT’s partner universities / research centers;
  2. Business Creation → seed investment program dedicated to teams that have successfully completed the tech incubation phase but also spin-off companies and startups not belonging to partner universities.

F.A.Q.

If a team is selected for the tech incubation program, it will receive an investment of up to € 200,000 in the form of a convertible investment. If the team is subsequently accepted into the business creation program (or if a startup is selected to participate in the program), they will receive an equity investment of up to € 1,000,000
Both the tech incubation and business creation phases have a detailed program that includes plenary conferences, office hours, workshops and meetings of the participating teams and companies with the network and mentors of RoboIT and Pariter Partners. The effort required of the teams can vary up to a commitment of a few days a week.
No physical presence is required but only the participation to the mandatory activities required by the tech incubation or business creation program. For the tech incubation program teams can remain located in the partner University and move sporadically when requested by the program. For the business creation program, startups will be asked to be in Genova to attend the mandatory activities.
English is the official language of the program and of all communications. But hey, we’re happy to help you learn Italian!
During the tech incubation program teams will keep their status of Principal Investigator or researchers inside the partner organization. If teams are selected for the business creation program, yes, they will be required to incorporate as an Italian legal entity.
Once the call for applications (startups) is closed, only a selected number of companies will be contacted by RoboIT and Pariter Partners that will initiate the evaluation process.
